Marcelo does not take the view that Real Madrid are the favourites to win what would be their third consecutive Champions League trophy. He told UEFA: ''In a final, anything can happen, we have been training very well and we are preparing.''
''We will not deviate from what we normally do, the most important thing is to give everything we can in the game and to be able to leave the pitch with the assurance of having given our all and having done what the coach asked of us.''
He added: ''The goal is to play well and win the final. Playing in the Champions League is an achievement for any player and winning it is the highlight in any player's career.''
Marcelo said of their second successive triumph last season in Europe's premier club competition: ''It was spectacular, but in football you have to challenge every year, we want to win in 2018 but we are only concerned with the present, what we did in the past doesn't count.''
Speaking about their opponents Liverpool, he said: ''Every game is different and Liverpool is not only Salah, they have Firmino and Mane too. They have players who can change a game, especially in a final, and we are aware that we cannot focus our attention on one particular player.''
