Alisson has a moment of madness but Liverpool are unable to take advantage.

  • 79'
Dzeko volleys Nainggolan's deep corner back at goal at the far post but it drops well wide in the end.
  • 79'

Salah slips Firmino in behind but his low effort from a narrow angle is kept out by the foot of Alisson.
  • 68'
Dzeko volleys Nainggolan's cross from the right over the bar first time. It's one-way traffic at the moment.
  • 66'
CLOSE! Karius parries a low cross from Kolarov right back into the mixer, before Dzeko drags an effort wide on the turn after being well found by De Rossi. There's life in this tie yet!
  • 63'
DRAMA! Roma should have another penalty! Dzeko's header drops in a danerous area and Alexander-Arnold hammers a clearance against Schick, it falls nicely for El Shaarawy, but his effort is blocked behind for a corner off the hand of the Liverpool man. Stonewall.
  • 62'
Mane is denied by a good save from Alisson but he was offside in the build-up regardless.
  • 60'
CHANCE! Under prods De Rossi's long ball over the top goalwards first time and Karius just about stops it on the line. If Roma get one soon we could see a grandstand finale here.
  • 59'
Manolas makes a couple of good interventions to prevent Liverpool from breaking.
  • 56'
Dzeko meets Kolarov's clipped free-kick at the far post but he can only head over. Still signs of life from the hosts, who need three goals to force extra time.

GOAL! ROMA! DZEKO! 2-2! (Agg. 4-7) The big man loves a big occasion! Alexander-Arnold tries to nip in before the ball reaches El Shaarawy down the left but he doesn't get there, allowing the Egyptian to drive forward and look for the far corner. Karius makes the save, but the ball drops to Dzeko who fires home to level the scores on the night.
  • 49'
A let-off for Liverpool! Dzeko is slipped in one-on-one and he is cleaned out by Karius, with the German getting nowhere near the ball. It's a clear penalty, but the offside flag had already gone up against Dzeko.
  • 47'
The flag goes up against Salah as he looks to race onto Mane's through ball.
  • 46'
The visitors get us back underway here and barring an act of God, they will be progressing to the final to face Real Madrid in Kiev.
  • 45'
HT: Roma 1-2 Liverpool (Agg. 3-7). Sadio Mane's early opener and Giorginio Winaldum's header, either side of a comical James Milner own goal appear to have decided this tie with 45 minutes remaining. The hosts need more than a miracle now.
  • 45'
    1 minute added on.
  • 45'
I'm going to call that a shot but it's generous on my part. Pellegrini has a go from the set-piece but his effort never looks like troubling anyone other than the fans sat in row Z.

Yellow card

a Liverpool
  • 44'
Lovren is booked for easing El Shaarawy to the ground after he was sent racing away down the left.
  • 42'
Florenzi slices an effort wide of the post from 18 yards.
  • 40'
El Shaarawy hits the deck after skipping past Alexander-Arnold, but the referee waves him to his feet and he's lucky, that was a terrible dive. Alexander-Arnold's limbs weren't even in the same postcode.
  • 37'
Roma have had 60% of the ball but Liverpool look dangerous every time they foray forward.
  • 35'
OFF THE POST! El Shaarawy comes in off the left and tries his luck, his effort takes a huge deflection off Milner, who's heart was no doubt in his mouth once again there, but he is spared the embarrassment this time as the ball clatters off the outside of the post and back into play.
  • 34'
Alexander-Arnold stays firm to dispossess El Shaarawy and win a goal kick down by the corner flag.
  • 30'
Roma now need four goals to progress.
  • 28'
Fazio heads over at the other end. Surely that goal ends Roma's resistance?
  • 25'
GOAL! LIVERPOOL! WIJNALDUM! 1-2! An unlikely hero! Roma fail to clear the corner and Schick inadvertently heads the ball back towards his own goal, providing an unmarked Wijnaldum the simple task of heading past Alisson from six yards.
  • 25'
GREAT SAVE! Robertson does brilliantly to beat his man on the outside down the left and get to the byline. He pulls the ball back for Mane, but he is denied by a fine save from Alisson.

Some good bits of handling from Karius as he claims a couple of crosses from deep.

GOAL! ROMA! MILNER O.G.! 1-1! So unfortunate! El Shaarawy head a cross from the right back across the box and whilst Lovren gets there ahead of Dzeko, he can only hammer the ball against Milner, with the ball rebounding off the midfielder's head and into the back of his own net.
  • 14'
Salah cuts onto his left foot and looks for the bottom corner but Alisson gathers.
  • 11'
Nainggolan fires well over from range.
  • 10'
Wijnaldum looks to burst forward after playing a one-two with Salah but he is upended by Manolas. The referee waves play on though.

GOAL! LIVERPOOL! MANE! 1-0! Horrendous from Nainggolan as he presents the ball to Firmino in the middle of the park. The Brazilian carries the ball forwards before slipping in Mane on the overlap and he makes no mistake, finishing past Alisson. Surely that is tie over! That is the first goal Roma have conceded at the Olimpico in the Champions League this season.
  • 8'
Mane goes down in the box after seemingly being pushed in the back by Manolas but the referee is unmoved.
  • 8'
Kolarov comes through the back of Salah, I dare say the Egyptian may be the target of some rough treatment tonight.
  • 6'
Florenzi has a go from range but it fades just wide of the post. A decent hit from the full-back.
  • 6'
Dzeko's pullback across the box finds no one in the middle. The Bosnian needs more support there.
  • 3'
A brief moment of panic as the ball drops in the box but Liverpool clear.
  • 3'
Roma force a corner off Wijnaldum down the left.
  • 1'
Dzekoo meets El Shaarawy's improvised pass with his head but his tame effort dribbles wide. Roma look full of zest and energy already though.
  • 1'
Roma get the ball rolling here!

Eusebio Di Francesco is confident he knows what Roma need to do today: "To compete with Liverpool you need to raise your athletic performance, we need to score as soon as possible to excite our fans and give them a reason to push us. I want to see enthusiasm and the desire to overcome the obstacle. We have the desire to achieve the comeback and do something important. After that there can be any result, but that's what I want to see."
  • PRVW
Liverpool have happy memories of playing in Rome, defeating tonight's opponents at the Stadio Olimpico back in 1984 to win the European Cup, before claiming a 2-0 win and a 0-0 draw on their two other previous visits.

Roma need a repeat of their quarter-final victory over Barcelona if they are to progress this evening, but will lightning strike twice?
  • PRVW
Plenty of interesting sub-plots tonight, Roma are yet to concede at home in the Champions League this season, whilst Liverpool have not yet tsted defeat in 11 games. Will either of those records still be in tact come full-time?
  • PRVW
The visitors have arrived for this one:
  • PRVW
The hosts change their system otnight, dropping Juan Jesus after he was ruthlessly tortured by Mo Salah last week. Jesus' omission marks a return to four at the back, whilst Stephan El Shaarawy and Patrik Schick come in and will support Edin Dzeko in attack. Kevin Strootman's place in the starting lineup goes to Lorenzo Pellegrini.
  • PRVW
No surprises form the visitors then as they line up as expected. Giorginio Wijnaldum comes in for the injured Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, who will not feature again this season after sustaining a knee ligament injury in the first leg at Anfield last week.
  • PRVW
Roma: Alisson; Florenzi, Manolas, Fazio, Kolarov; Pellegrini, De Rossi, Nainggolan; Schick, Dzeko, El Shaarawy. Subs: Skorupski, J. Jesus, Cengiz, Gonalons, Peres, Gerson, Antonucci.
