Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, Leganes, Valencia, Alaves, Sevilla and Espanyol, eight Primera Division teams were in the draw. Leganes, making their first-ever appearance in the last eight of the competition.
Having overcome Villarreal in the previous round, Leganes will look to continue their impressive feat against Real Madrid, after Zidane's men unconvincingly brushed aside second-tier Numancia. The first leg will take place at Leganes and the return fixture at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Simeone's Atletico comfortably side-stepped Lleida in the last 16 and they will face a tougher test in the quarter-finals, hosting Sevilla at the Metropolitano in the first leg and travelling to the Sanchez Pizjuan in the second.
A Catalan derby will be one of the highlights of the next round, Espanyol and Barcelona meeting again in the Copa del Rey. The return fixture will take place at the Camp Nou. Valencia and Alaves have both impressed so far in the competition and they will meet at Mestalla for the first leg.
Here are the quarter-final ties:
Leganes v Real Madrid
Espanyol v Barcelona
Atletico Madrid v Sevilla
Valencia v Alaves
