Despite reports of Mikel Arteta taking the helm at the Emirates, it appears Emery has secured the job. The 46-year-old recently managed his final game with French champions PSG after two seasons in charge in the capital.
Looking at Emery's CV, there's no surprise Arsenal think he's the perfect candidate. Whilst at Sevilla, the Spaniard lifted the Europa League three years on the trot. He left the side from Andalucia in 2016 to take over from Laurent Blanc at PSG.
Despite being pipped to the Ligue 1 title in his debut season by Monaco, he guided the Parisians to a domestic treble last season, emphatically winning the league and triumphing in the Coupe de France and the Coupe de la Ligue. Unfortunately for him, his shortcomings in the Champions League saw him destined for the exit door at the Parc des Princes.
Arsenal have been looking for a new boss for the first time in over two decades since Wenger announced last month he was stepping down at the end of the season. A sixth-placed finish in the Premier League, the Frenchman's worst-ever return, means the Gunners have failed to qualify for the Champions League for a second straight season.
Emery's experience sees him emerge in pole position over Arteta, who would have been taking his first head coach role with the Gunners had be been chosen.
The club are expected to announce Emery as their manager later this week.
