Neymar came through the youth ranks at Santos, the Brazilian club with which he rose to fame and won the Copa Libertadores. From there he made the move to Europe and became as popular worldwide as he already was back in his native Brazil.
But Neymar's feelings go much further than Santos. The Brazilian forward confessed on 'Palmeiras TV' that he was a big fan of the club, and hoped one day to play for them.
"I was a 'palmeirense'. When I was young I always used to like to go and watch Palmeiras. My story as a Palmeiras fan didn't last that long bcause I was very young, but my idols were Evair, Marcos, Rivaldo and Alex. I was captivated by them and ended up supporting Palmeiras because of them," the PSG star explained.
All of Neymar's childhood idols played together at Palmeiras. His comments have sparked euphoria and the Brazilian club was quick to boast about his comments on social media.
Neymar also opened the door to possibly playing there one day: "I don't know, nobody knows what will happen in the future, but it would be a great pleasure."
Some fans are already getting carried away, imagining the man who broke the transfer record during his move to PSG in the summer, wear the green shirt of Palmeiras.
