GROUP A: Benfica, Manchester United, Basel, CSKA Moscow.
A dream group for Mourinho's side, who will be thilled to have avoided Real Madrid. The Red Devils will be expected to progress to the knockout stages, but they will have to be wary, especially when visiting the stadiums of Benfica and CSKA Moscow, where they will have to fight for three points.
GROUP B: Bayern Munich, PSG, Anderlecht, Celtic.
Two European superpowers such as Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are poised to qualify, and surprises from Anderlecht and Celtic are unlikely. You never know in the Champions League, the underdogs will try to make things difficult for Ancelotti and Emery.
GROUP C: Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, Roma, Qarabag.
Also a demanding group. Chelsea and Atletico have recent experience in reaching the final of the competition, while Roma are always up there. The Italian will want to prove they are among Europe's best. Azerbaijan side Qarabag make their Champions League debut this season.
GROUP D: Juventus, Barcelona, Olympiacos, Sporting Lisbon.
Juventus and Barcelona went head to head last season with the Italians coming out on top. The Catalans will seek revenge while also remaining cautious of Olympiacos and Sporting Lisbon. The trip to the Greek side's stadium is something no team looks forward to...
GROUP E: Spartak Moscow, Sevilla, Liverpool, Maribor.
After three years out of the Champions League, Liverpool sealed an emphatic return in the play-offs. At first glance, they have been drawn into an uncomplicated group. Can Klopp's side bring the magical European nights back to Anfield?
GROUP F: Shakhtar Donetsk, Manchester City, Napoli, Feyenoord.
Guardiola's team will seek European glory in a fairly easy group. Napoli looked good last season and were knocked out by eventual champions Real Madrid. Feyenoord will be hungry after their long-awaited return to the competition. Will this be City's year? 43 per cent of Champions League winners have come from group F since 2003...
GROUP G: Monaco, Porto, Besiktas, Leipzig.
Quite possibly the least exciting group for many fans, at first glance. But we mustn't forget Monaco's fantastic Champions League campaign last season and Leipzig are also an entertaining team to watch. However, group G has not produced a winner in the last 14 editions...
GROUP H: Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, Tottenham, Apoel.
Arguably the toughest group. Reigning champions Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund, who always do well in the competition, and the runners-up in last season's Premier League. It is hard to imagine Apoel making it through to the knock-out stages.
The group stage fixtures will be scheduled as follows:
September 12-13: gameweek 1
September 26-27: gameweek 2
October 17-18: gameweek 3
October 31 - November 1: gameweek 4
November 21-22: gameweek 5
December 5-6: gameweek 6
